KITESURFING IN SIARGAO

WINDY SEASON: AMIHAN
From November to April the wind is blowing from North-East (most of the time) to South-East in Siargao.
Windiest time of the year is usually in January.

WEATHER: Temperature is 26 – 30°C. Hot and humid with rainfalls during Amihan Season
Water temperature is around 28°C.

WIND SPEED: 10 – 20 Knots
The wind is usually stronger in the morning. Most of the days, we are kiting with kites between 12 to 14m. Siargao is a foiling paradise since we often have steady light wind.

HABAGAT SEASON:  KITESCHOOL is closed during this time (offshore wind). You can get couple of West windy days during summer (June, July, August, September) in Siargao. Best spots are South GL, Santa Fe, Daku Island or the West coast of the island

KITE SPOTS:

GL:
General Luna lagoon, where the kiteschool is situated, is the main spot with the safest and easiest access from Bravo Beach Resort.
You can kite in the lagoon at all tides from North-East to South-East Wind. The best time to go is mid-tide, when you can walk all around the lagoon, with water waist high and almost no rocks around the North part.
On low tide, you can kite further South in the lagoon close to the sandbank. Although, be aware about the rocks and the current.

South GL :
You can kite with South-West to East Wind from the Boulevard (near the market) to Union beach.

CATANGAN AREA : (expert only)
You can launch near the bridge and kite some famous surf spots, such as: Cloud9, Stimpys, Rock Island, Jacking Horse or Bomies. But most of the days it’s packed with surfers, so go there only if the spots are empty. Be aware of strong current and big waves.

SANTA FE:
Closest spot from General Luna to kite on West Wind. This spot also works on East to Northeast wind. Nice beach for launching, flat-water spot inside the lagoon, and waves at the back (Philippine Deep).

THE NORTH:
Plenty of good kite-waves spots with different wind directions.
In Alegria there is a good beginner spot, similar to the one in General Luna.
